Brandon Morrow gutted out a hard fought victory and the Toronto Blue Jays swept the Kansas City Royals over a four game series for the first time in franchise history. Jose Bautista hit a big two-run homerun while Brett Lawrie added an insurance run after he tripled and scored on a Rajai Davis single. Numerous solid plays were made in the field with the best coming from second basemen Kelly Johnson.
The Blue Jays improved to 10-6 and remain tied for the AL East division lead with the New York Yankees.
Here is a game-by-game recap with boxscore:
Game 1 – Jays win 4-3.
Game 2 – Jays win 9-5.
Game 3 – Jays win 5-3.
Game 4 – Jays win 4-1.
It was a great series overall for the Jays with timely hitting, a triple play and even a comeback victory. They did well to kick a team while they were down as Kansas City is reeling, losers of eleven straight games. The Jays need the same killer mentality with a mid-week set against the Baltimore Orioles starting tomorrow.
