As if losing a game 16-0 (and setting a franchise record for worse loss in history) isn’t bad enough it was also a case of injury added to insult.
Toronto Blue Jays catcher JP Arencibia is expected to miss up to six weeks with a fractured right hand. It appeared the injury occurred on a foul tip by Brandon Inge.
Arencibia is hitting .242 with 16 HRs on the season.
No, you’re right about Td’A. And Carlos Perez is plying his trade with HOU. It was just a little graveyard humour on my part…
Tell your Tigers fan buddy that just today I was thinking about what would happen if Prince went down ’cause he’s in such good shape. Hope they don’t lose Verlander, either, or that Miggy doesn’t take another ball in the face.
Ha, I figured you were joking. Yeah, really adds more insult to injury we don’t even get to see what d’Arnaud is made of at the MLB level, which would have been real nice. Hell, he might have outperformed JP anyway?
I don’t get to see 51s or Fisher Cats’ games, so I’m dying to see him play. His statistics and reputation are almost too good to be true: I want to see if he can do it with the big club. Being a SFG fan on the side, what intrigues me most is whether he’ll have a Buster Posey-type of impact.
Le boo. Arencibia is my favourie Blue Jay.
I think he’s every ladies favourite Jay!
Ugh. Oh well, they can call up blue-chipper Travis D’Arnaud earlier than expected and Carlos Perez can move up the organizational ladder. I remember thinking that depth at C was such a good thing. It wasn’t even very long ago that I thought along those lines. Ugh.
I’ve actually been waiting for the Jays to have a head-on collision with adversity. 2012 qualifies. Dustin McGowan, Jesse Litsch, Sergio Santos, Brandon Morrow, Drew Hutchison, Kyle Drabek, Jose Bautista, Travis D’Arnaud, JP Arencibia, Robert Coello, Jason Frasor, Joel Carreno, and Luis Perez are all on the DL. Incredibly, eight of them are on the 60-day DL. Then there’s Ricky Romero’s utter uselessness, sub-par offense from the middle infield, Adam Lind so bad he was demoted, Eric Thames and Rajai Davis in LF.
Praise the Lord for Casey Janssen, Colby Rasmus, Brett Lawrie, Darren Oliver, and Edwin Encarnacion. And a really big ‘thank you’ for Jeff Mathis and Yan Gomes, two players who are having good (for them) seasons and play multiple positions.
Oh, and I shouldn’t forget Carlos Villanueva and Aaron Laffey. They’ve been a fragrant aroma in the midst of all this garbage.
I was chatting with a Tigers fan and he had the nerve to mention some of their “injury woes”, it took a lot of resolve to not go crazy!
This has been an unreal season of horrible luck. 4/5ths of the rotation wiped out? How much money is Dr. James Andrews going to get from the Jays?
I thought Travis d’Arnaud was done for the season? That was the last I heard anyway?
