Somehow, someway the Toronto Blue Jays continue to hang tough in the rugged American League playoff landscape. The Jays took two of three from the Cleveland Indians who had been playing some half decent baseball prior to this series in Toronto.
The Blue Jays were close to a series sweep but lost a tight game one 1-0 in spite of Ricky Romero’s stellar start, hopefully that is a sign of things to come in the second half of the season.
CURRENT RECORD: 45-44 (+23 run differential), 1.5 games behind the Baltimore Orioles for the second wild-card.
Quick recaps and boxscores:
Game 1 – Indians 1, Blue Jays 0 – Travis Hafner homerun is the difference. Ricky Romero solid over six innings.
Game 2 – Blue Jays 11, Indians 9 – Edwin Encarnacion hits two HRs in a slugfest.
Game 3 – Blue Jays 3, Indians 0 – JP Arencibia with clutch RBI, Carlos Villanueva with a solid six innings.
UP NEXT: Big road series in New York to face the Yankees (54-34, +68 run differential) – a three game set.
