Blue Jays Spring Training Recap – March 15, 2012

Dustin McGowan was once again impressive, touching 95-96 on the radar gun and helped the Jays cruise to another victory 6-3 over the Astro’s.  It will be nice when the Astro’s become a permanent AL opponent.  Read the full recap here.

The Blue Jays improved their Grapefruit League record to 11-2 with a 6-3 Grapefruit League win over the Astros on Thursday at Osceloa County Stadium.

Right-hander Dustin McGowan allowed just one unearned run in his three innings and has now pitched five innings with one unearned run this spring. Jordan Schafer led off with a walk and went to third when catcher Travis d’Arnaud’s pickoff attempt sailed into right field. He scored when Angel Sanchez grounded out.

The Blue Jays jumped on Astros starter Zach Duke for a pair of runs in each of the first two innings.

Up next: Left-hander Ricky Romero will be making his third Grapefruit League start when the Blue Jays return to Florida Auto Exchange Stadium for a 1:05 p.m. ET game against the Rays. Chad Jenkins, Jason Frasor and Drew Carpenter are also expected to get work. This could be the first time the Rays face former teammate Jose Molina, who signed with Tampa Bay as a free agent after last season.

  • Not sure where Pat Tabler is getting his data but Pitch F/X has Stroman's curveball thrown 12.3% and is easily his least effective pitch. 1 day ago
  • Daniel Norris is the man and I hope he really develops into an ace but that life sized Jebus cross around his neck is a tad obnoxious. 1 day ago
  • Has a team wasted more money on scouting potential Cuban and Asian free agents than the #BlueJays? Motto: scout everyone, sign nobody. 3 days ago
  • Christian Vasquez is such a great receiver. He makes clear balls look like near strikes. Jays lack that top notch framing from catcher. 3 days ago
  • Green light on 3-0 for a heavily slumping Jose Bautista is not smart. 3 days ago
