Blue Jays Spring Training Recap – March 15, 2012

Dustin McGowan was once again impressive, touching 95-96 on the radar gun and helped the Jays cruise to another victory 6-3 over the Astro’s.  It will be nice when the Astro’s become a permanent AL opponent.  Read the full recap here.

The Blue Jays improved their Grapefruit League record to 11-2 with a 6-3 Grapefruit League win over the Astros on Thursday at Osceloa County Stadium.

Right-hander Dustin McGowan allowed just one unearned run in his three innings and has now pitched five innings with one unearned run this spring. Jordan Schafer led off with a walk and went to third when catcher Travis d’Arnaud’s pickoff attempt sailed into right field. He scored when Angel Sanchez grounded out.

The Blue Jays jumped on Astros starter Zach Duke for a pair of runs in each of the first two innings.

Up next: Left-hander Ricky Romero will be making his third Grapefruit League start when the Blue Jays return to Florida Auto Exchange Stadium for a 1:05 p.m. ET game against the Rays. Chad Jenkins, Jason Frasor and Drew Carpenter are also expected to get work. This could be the first time the Rays face former teammate Jose Molina, who signed with Tampa Bay as a free agent after last season.

  • Wow, I knew the Astro's had a bandbox but this place is ridiculous. Jose Reyes barely touched that ball and he almost took it out over left 3 hours ago
  • @sethsthoughts It's the same crowd who think Don Cherry should be the coach of the Leafs. Talks loud, dresses sharp. 6 hours ago
  • Soooo Gregg Zaun wants to sit a right handed batter against a lefty based on a tiny sample size for Brett Lawrie in 2014? #brilliant 6 hours ago
  • The day Alex Anthopoulos is let go, whenever that is, I guarantee he will be quoted as saying "Ownership was not fully committed to winning" 11 hours ago
  • @MurphyBruno I'm waiting for Morrow to suddenly appear, steal the ball from Happ and pitch six strong, striking out 10! 1 day ago
